AUCKLAND COLLEGE AND GRAMMAR SCHOOL

The usual monthly meeting of the Board ol Governors of the Auckland College and Grammar School was held yesterday at the Board's office, Victoria Arcade, there being present The Hon. Colonel Hatiltuin, vicechairman, the Mayor of Auckland (Mr. Holland), Messrs, fc. Luke, \\\ J, Speight, and Udy.

Technical Education. — A letter was read from the secretary of the Auckland Technical School asking the Board to appoint one of its number us a representative, and Mr. Udy was requested to act as such. Chemicals.—'l ho headnustor wrote asking for the usual annual supply of chemicals, estimated to amount to £14 odd, which was authorised.

Dkvoni'oht Properties.—The Property Committee recommended the Board to auction the old buildings now standing on the land recently leased to Messrs. Alison Brothers, and to build thereon dwelling houses at an estimated cost of £1150. This matter was referred to the Property Committee with power to act. Office Vacation - .— was decided to close the secretary's oflice from Wednesday next till the 6th of January. Thanks. — Mr. Watkins, the French master, through Mr. Speight, thanked the Board for its kindness to him during his illness.

Accounts.—Accounts of the amount of jC. r )76 4s 11M wero passed for payment. Adjournment. — The Board adjourned until Monday, the 27th of January next a» three p.m.
