BOROUGH COUNCILS.

The ordinary mooting of the Parnell Borough Council was hold in the chambers last evening, Mr. (<. S. Kissling (the Mayor) presiding. Thcro were also pre-

sent:—Mrs. Matson, Messrs. Briggs,

Wright, Page, McConnell, Thomas, and Thornes.

Corrb*pondknce.—Mr. H. Worblnngton wrote calling attention to tho bad state of Avon-street. Tho matter was referred to the foreman of works with power to act. A similar communication from Mrs. Warner, re Falcon-street, was referred to the Streets Committee. The socrotary of the Licensed Victuallers' Association askod that cortain information re the Parnoll licensing district might be supplied to him, and the town clerk was instructed to comply with the request. New Road off Cleveland Road.—On the motion of the Mayor, the Council approved of the levols as submitted of the proposed road off Cleveland Road. Burgesses.—Applications from Annie Bessie Warner and R. G, Hamilton to have their names placed on the burgess roll were granted. Watering Mamukao Road.—The Foreman of Works reported that he had made a trial as instructed, and found the cost of watering Manukau Road from Kemp's cornor to Eglington-streeb would be 13s. It was decided to refer the question of continuing it or otherwise to the Finance Committee. Allowance ofGravel.—Mr. Page moved, and it was agreed to supply the residents of Clifton Road with ten loads of gravel, on condition that they should spread it themselves.

NEWTON.

PARNELL.

The usual meeting of the Newton Borough Council took place last evening. Present: Messrs. R. Warnock (tho Mayor, in the chair), Mr. R. T. Warnoek, Shackelford, Webley, S. C. Brown, McDonald, J. Ambury, Lee, and Davenport, Mr. R. T. Warnock made tho usual declaration, and took his seat for Richmond ward. Tho Streets Committee's roporb recommended the engineer to prepare plans and specifications for the drainage of Surrey and Sussex-streets, off tho Great North Road. Accounts were passed to the amount of £55 5s lOd. At the request of the Council tho Mayor decided to stand for another term,
