MAJOR DANE.

, TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—Will you kindly allow me a little of your valuable space to express my deep regret that I have been prevented by a sudden attack of illness from fulfilling my engagements here. I would gladly have remained in your beautiful city for another month, but I have imperative engagements in America, beginning with the 31 sg of this month which render this impossible. If all i 3 well I expect to return in about 18 months, when I hope I shall have the pleasure of addressing; Auckland audiences again. In the meantime allow me to express my very sincere thanks for the great kindness which has been shown to me and my wife during our brief stay it Auckland.—l am, etc., Henry Craige Dane.
