The usual meeting of the Woodside Mutual Improvement Society was held on the evening of the sth instant. The programme on this occasion was provided by oar friends belonging to the Pap&kura Valley Aisociation, and the large audience gathered together showed how welcome they were. The items comprised Recitation, " The Pipes at Lucknow," Mr. J. B. Allen; paper on "Sheep's Logic," Mr. F. Allen ; recitation, Mrs. Bodle ; paper, '• Common Error in English," Mr. Morgan ; paper, "Trade Morals," Miss Bull paper on " Larrikinism," Mr. R. C. Reid ; recitation, "Quart Pot Creek," Mr. R. C. Reid ; paper on "Theatricals," Mr. Morgan. After the discussion on the above, the visitors were provided with light refreshments by the Woodside ladies' committee. These interchanges of programme by different societies are very useful and pleasant, and we hope next year to repeat the same.
