Following on the decision given by Mf\ Norbhcroftj 8.M., on Wednesday last, In respect to the Shops and Shop Assistants Act, that nd particular day fair the weekly half-holiday oan be : fixed ' until January, 1896, there ware more shops open on Saturday afternoon than ever Since the supposed coming into operation of the Act. In fact, some of the tradesmen who moat declaimed against tho action of the HBftALD, and "who hare hitherto closed on Saturdays, remained open on Saturday afternoon. During the evening the streets were crowded, and tradesmen reporb excellent business done.
