[by TELEGRAPH.—press association.] Dunedin, Friday. At a public mooting to-night, ib was docided to form a Contral Otago Vine and Fruitgrowers' Association, with Mr. A. Bathgate as president and Mr. B. Hallonstein as vico-president. There are about 150 members. Jeremiah O'Brien, a young man, was committed for trial to-day on a charge of rapo. Two other young men, who were charged with aiding and abetting, wore discharged. Christchurch, Friday. The Government auditor has laid two further informations for embezzlement against tho late city rate collector. "Wellington, Friday. Since 1891 there have been increases of 24 per cent in tho number ofcdairy cows in the colony, an increase of 22 per cent, in cattle, and 18 per cent, in breeding cows. Regulations with reference to life-saving appliances for ships are gazetted. Returns for the last month show arrivals 1802 and departures 2522.
