Particulars of the Queen's Birthday gathering of Bands of Hope will be found in our amusement columns. Owing to the popularity of these gatherings the Choral Hall has beeu engaged for Friday and Saturday next, as it as impossible to accommodate patrons on one evening. His Worship the Mayor has consented to preside on Friday, when Mr. C. E. Jones, the eminent lecturer, will give a short address; and Mr. Crabb, Grand Lodge Lecturer, 1.0. G.T., will apeak on Saturday evening, wi en Mr. Spieght will preside. The young people have been hard at work for some time undercharge of Mr. Fiith, and their popular action songs promise to equal any previous performances. Master Percy West will supply a cornet solo, and a miscellaneous programme of other items, will provide a choice holiday entertainment. The entertainment of Mrs. J. Bagot Birch, on Monday next, promises to be very attractive, and already there is a great deal of interest excited over her competition. Mr. A. L. Edwards will, we are glad to learn, appear again after his late illness. Good accounts are x'" of Miss Drew and Mr. John Birch's "Pygmalion and Galatea." The full programme appears elsewhere. Blankets, flannels, men's and boys' readymade clothing, shirts, and hats, at such prices as defy competition. J. H. liannau, importer, Victoria-street. There will be an excursion to LakcTakapuna to-morrow afternoon. In the afternoon the ferry steamers will run at short intervals to Calliope Dock wharf. By advertisement elsewhere the Band of Hope Union acknowledges, with thanks, receipt of a number of favourable replies from preachers in response to the circular asking that special reference be made to morrow to "Temperance Work Amongst the Young," as it is the Suuday prior to the celebration of the fifteenth anniversary of the Union. A Winter Lawn Tennis Club, to play on the courts at the Zeal&ndia Kink, is being formed, as will be seen by advertisement. The courts we in first-class condition for play.
