ATHLETIC SPORTS.
GOLF. The seventh competition for the president's cleek will take place next Saturday. Entries for the club championship will close on Saturday, It is not yet decided where the championship ot New Zealand will be play Two years ago the championship was played in Dunedin. Last year it was played at Christchuroh. Wellington has the claim to hold the meeting this year, but it has not yet been decided whether the Hutt links will be in sufficiently good order. An effort is being made to get the meeting held in Auckland but it is improbable that the Southern golftrs will allow the championship to be played so far North as Auckland.
