A fierce debate took place in the Chamber of Deputies yesterday, the Government being violently attacked over a contract given to an English firm for the transport of war material to Madagascar, though 600,000 francs (£24,000) was ; saved by it. The Socialists and Protectionists were loud with abusive epithets against England.
