The deaths in December were 135, an increase of 5 on the number in November. Of the total deaths, males contributed 64, females 71. Twenty-nine of the deaths were of children under 5 years of age, being 21*48 per cent, of the whole number. Twenty of these were under 1 year of age. There were 29 deaths of persons of 65 years and upwards. Eight men of 66, 67, 68, 69, 70, 71, and 82 (two); and seven women of 69, 73, 76, 77, 84, 85, and 86, died at Auckland. One woman of 77, at Wellington. Two men of 67 and 78, and two women of 78 and 84, at ChrUtchurch. Four men of 65, 75, 76, and 87; and five women of 66, 73, 75, 80,' and 85, at Dunedin.
