RAGLAN COUNTY COUNCIL.
A special meeting of the above Council was held in the Council Chambers, Raglan, on Monday last. The following members were present: — Messrs. Mathias (chairman), Bankart, R. C. Smith, Vernon Smith, Viiiing. Proposed by Mr. Vining, seconded by Mr. Bankart, and carried, "That the resolution adopting charges, etc., for the Huntly ferry be confirmed." Proposed by Mr. Vernon Smith, seconded by Mr. R. Smith and carried, "That the resolution adopting the general by-laws be confirmed.' A special meeting was held to appoint & day for closing according to the Shop Hours Act. After consideration the Council came to the conclusion that the Act did not apply to this district, and that they had no power to fix a date for closing. Tenders.—The Works and Finance Committee then met, and the following tenders were opened Opoturu Ferry : J. A. Graham, £10 (subsidy required); Mita Karaka, £10 (subsidy required). The tender of Mr. Graham was accepted. Huntly punt: W. T. Lutener offered to give bonus of £10; L. B. Harris, £10; Terawhiti, £11; R. Hetherington, £10; Thomas Dunn offered to do the work for 15s per week and all th« takings; A. Schlinker (informal), £5. The tender of W. Lutener was accepted. [Own Correspondent.]
