London, January 16. Lord Brassey has accepted the Governorship of Victoria, in succession to Lord Hopetoun, whose term of office is about to expire.

The Daily Telegraph congratulates the Empire and the Colonies on Lord Brassey's acceptance of the Governorship of Victoria, especially in view of the threatened reduction in salary.
The Daily News says Lord Brassey is the right man in the right place, but at the same time highly eulogises Lord Hopetoun's record in Victoria,
