THE COLONIAL TREASURER.
HIS VISIT TO ENGLAND.
[BY telegraph.—press association.] Wellington, Tuesday. The Hon. Mr. Ward leaves the Bluff for Hobarfe to attend the Postal Conference on the 29th instant. Thonce he goes to England via Suez. Later. The Hon. S. G. Ward, Colonial Treasurer, proceeds to England shortly, wfth the unanimous approval of hie colleagues, who have deputed him to attend bo matters of an important characber affecting the welfare of the colony. He has also been appointed to represent the colony ab the Intercolonial Postal Conference, which sits at Hobart on Ist proximo, and he has further beon empowered by the Cabineb to meeb the Premiers of the Australian colonies, who will be assembled ab Hobarb to formulate and discuss proposals for reciprocity. Mr. Ward will return to the colony about bhe middle of May, and during his absenoe his various departments will be administered by hia colleagues. Departmental Treasury matters will be dealt with by the Premier, whilst the Hon. Mr. McKenzie will conduct the Government Insurance, Public Trust, Advances to Settlers, and Industries and Commerce Deportments. The Hon. Mr. Reeves will direct the Customs and Marine Departments, and the Hon. Mr. Cadman the Posf) and Telegraph Department. Sir Patrick Buckley will relieve the Hon. Mr. Cadman of control of Government Printingoffice.
