The Union Company's steamer Moa, Captain J. Rolls, arrived at 7 o'clock on Saturday evening from Napier, is borne, and the East Coast. Mr. Burnett, the purser, reports:—The Moa left Napier on the 7th inst., Gisborne on the 9th, and called at Pakaroe, Tologa Bay, Tokomaru, Waipiro, Whangaparoa, Orete Point, and Tekaha arriving as above. Experienced strong north and north-east winds with rain and very heavy sea on the coast, owing to which was unable to work Tuparoa, Awanui, and Te Araroa, and as the weather was increasing in leverity was forced to carry on passengers »nd cargo. Early yesterday morning the Northern Company e steamer Wellington arrived from Whangarei, and leaves again for the same place to-night at half-past ten o'clock. _ The Northern Company's steamer Waiotahi arrived from Opotiki and Tauranga yesterday. She leaves for Tauranga to-day at 5 p.m. On Saturday evening the Northern Company's steamer arrived from Tairua, Mercury Bay, and Kuaotunu. She leaves for the two latter places at seven o'clock this evening. The Northern Company's steamer Douglas arrived from Whangarei on Saturday with a cargo of coal She leaves for the town wharf, Whangarei, at 5 p.m. to-day. Yesterday the steamer Scotchman arrived from Whangarei with a cargo of coal. The Tyser Company's steamer Star of Victoria left for Wellington on Saturday. She loads at the various Southern ports for ; London. " -

On Saturday the barque Kathleen Hilda was cleared at the Customs for the Kaipara to load timber for Sydney. She will sail the first favourable change of wind. The Northern Company's steamer Clansman leaves at seven o'clock this evening for Russell, Whang&roa, and Mangonui. The schooner Aotea is to commence taking in cargo to-day for the East Coast and Gisborne.

The steamer Asw&nly will leave for Napier to-morrow to take in cargo for London. The Union Company's steamer Talune is due from Sydney early this morning, and leaves at two o'clock to-morrow afternoon for Southern ports, Hobart, and Melbourne. On Saturday the scow Ruakaka, bound to Whangaroa, put into Marsden Point for shelter.

The schooner Huia sailed from the Kaipara on Saturday tor Sydney, with a cargo of timber, on discharge of which she proceeds to Newcastle to load coal for this port. To-morrow the Union Company's steamer Mararoa leaves the Bluff for Hobart and Melbourne. The barquentine Handa Isle arrived at Adelaide from she Kaipara on Saturday. On December 26 the barque Union arrived at Apia, from Rio de Janeiro, to load copra for Europe, under charter to the German firm.

The barque Helen _ W. Almy, arrived at Apia, from San Francisco, on Christmas Day, While on the passage from Wallis Island to Levuka, last month, when about 100 miles from Taviuui, the cutter Alarm was dismasted owing to a heavy swell. There was not a breath of air at the time. A jury-mast was rigged up and the vessel managed to reach Taviuni.

The barque Northern Chief, which arrived yesterday, sailed from Newcastle on December 22, at 2 p.m., with E.N.E. wind, variable. She experienced easterly winds and calms till making the Three Kings on the 6th instantthence light N.E. winds with calms till passing the North Cape on the 11th, at 1050 a.m. She passed Cape Brett on the 12th, arriving on the 13th. The schooner Queen will leave to-day for Hokianga,

THE OVALAU. On > Saturday afternoon the Union Company's steamer Ovalau. Captain .Norman Beaumont, arrived from Sydney, Fiji, Samoa, and Tonga, bringing & cargo of raw sugar, fruit, copra, etc. Mr. A. C. Walker, the purser, to whom we are indebted for late papers, reports The Ovalau left Newcastle on December 17, and Sydney on the 20th at 7 p.m., clearing the Heads at 7.45 p.m. Passed Lord Howe Island at 2.30 p.m. on the 23rd, and was abeam of Hunter's Island at noon on the 26th. Sighted Kadavu at 12.30 a.m. on the 2Sth, and arrived at Suva at 7.30 a.m. the same day. Left again at 10.30 a.m. on the 29th, arriving at Apia at 11 a.m. on the Ist hast. Discharged cargo, and left again at 8 a.m. on the 4th. Called off Vavau on the 6th, and arrived at Tonga at 11 a.m. on the 7th. Embarked mails, passengers, and cargo, and left for Auckland at 7 a.m. on the Bth. Sighted Mokohinau at 9 a.m. on the 12th, and arrived at the wharf at 4 p.m. the same day. Experienced north and north-easterly winds from Sydney to Nuiafoo, where it increased to a heavy gale, with heavy sea and rain, and continued up till the 10th inst., when the weather moderated; thence to arrival light winds and fogs were met with. The Ovalau has berthed at the Quay-street Jetty, and will put out her consignments of fruit and copra this morning, and will then proceed up to Chelsea to discharge the sugar portion. The Takapuna arrived at 10 p.m. on Saturday. She left Lyttelton at 6.39 p.m. on the 10th, and arrived at Wellington at 9 a.m. on the 11th ; left again the same day at 3 p.m., Plymouth at7a.m. on the 12th. She left New Plymouth at 10.30 a m. the same day, crossed the Manukau bar at 8.30 p.m., arriving at Onehunga wharf as above. Fine weather was experienced ihroughout. The Northern S.S. Company's Gairloch arrived at 2.15 p.m. on Saturday from New Plymouth. The Northern Co.'s steamer Glenelg arrived from Raglan early on Saturday morning with 200 bales of flax and sundries, and left again in the afternoon for Wanganui with a general cargo and drain pipes The scow Rover arrived from Hokianga yesterday morning with a cargo of sleepers.
