ECCLESIASTICAL.
The Rev. Thomas Cook, the English Methodist Conference evangelist, conducted the service 'lasts [evening, at the Wesley an Church, Dovonporb. There was a large congregation, and he preached an earnest and appropriate discourse. He is a clear and forcible speaker, and was listened to with great attention. Mr. Cook leaves to-day for Rotorua, and will return on Friday, in readiness to inaugurate his ten days' mission in Pitt- street Church, on Sunday next. The evangelistic service at the City Hall last evening was conducted by Pastor Blaikie, who gave an address from John, iv., 29. There was a good attendance. Mr. John Smith occupied the chair. Yesterday Colonel and Mrs. Dowdle conducted special mission services at the Salvation Army Barracks, Albert-street. Throughout the day the services were well attended. To-day and three following days there will be holiness meetings in the afternoon, and special services in the evening, the mission closing on Thursday.
