The Lands Purchase Commissioner has been making selections of land in the vicinity of Christchurch, with a view to the Government acquiring a sufficient area under the Land for . Settlements . Act for purposes of close settlement. Dunedin, Sunday. A considerable number of bowlers have arrived for the tournament, which commences on Tuesday, to-morrow being de voted to club matches.
