ONEHUNGA BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The fortnightly meeting of the above was held in the Council Chambers on Monday night. Present: The Mayor "(Mr. D. A. Sutherland, in the chair), Messrs. Wade, Nixon, Jackson, Shaldrick, Burden, McKenzie, Colledge, and Hutchison. Drain Pipes.—A letter was received from Dr. Erson re drain pipes. Moved by Mr. Colledge, and seconded by Mr. Shaldrick, "That the matter be referred to the Streets Committee to report." Carried. New Councillor.—After the usual declaration, Mr. C. V. Hill was elected to the position of councillor. Watering Queen-street.— letter was received from the shopkeepers of Onehunge. re the watering of Queen-street v Moved by Mr. Colledge, " Thst a trial be made for one month of watering Queen-street." Seconded by Mr. Hutchison. Carried. Moved by Mr. Hill and seconded by Mr. Burden, " That the Mayor and turncock see to the matter." Carried. Water Pipes.—A letter from Mr. B. J. Daveney, re the laying of a water pipe on to his premises. Mr. Wade moved, and Mr. Nixon seconded, "That the matter be referred to the Water Committee." Agreed bo. A letter was also received from Mrs. Barr, Barron, and Niblock, for the supply of water by a plumber. Moved by the Mayor, and seconded by Mr. McKenzio, "That the matter be referred to the Water Committee." Another application was received from B. Greene, re laying of water. Moved by Mr. Burden, seconded by Mr. Hill, "That the water bo laid on as soon as possible." Agreed to. New Committees.Finance Committee : Messrs. Jackson, Hutchison and Wade. Streets : Messrs. Burden, Colledge and Hill. Water : Messrs. Hutchison, Jackson, and Wade. Reserves : Messrs. Shaldrick, Nixon, and McKenzie. Dog Registrar, Etc.—Mr. Jackson moved, " That applications bo received for Dog Registrar, Inspector of Nuisances, and Sanitary Inspector." Seconded by Mr. Colledge. Agreed to. Notices of Motion.—" That this Council, having noticed in the public Press the proposal to supply water to a large portion of the County of Eden, desires, as the Trust Board of the water reserves ab Onehunga, to express its willingness to assist in any way in the promotion of such a desirable object."
