THE COOLGARDIE GOLDFIELD.

FURTHER DISCOVERIES.

CooLGARDie, October 24. A VEEY rich shoot of stone has been struck in Cashman's mine at Forty-five Mile, which •was taken over on Monday for an English company. The rich make was met with two days prior to the completion of the sale. Over 100 ounces, contained in a few pounds of stone, were brought in from the mine to-day. A reward claim was applied for to-day "by a party of Tasmanian prospectors, who picked up 28 ounces of gold on the surface within 23 miles of the alluvial find at the Forty-mile Tank on the Ninetymile Road. No work beyond specking on the surface has yet been done, but the country looks promising. It is intended to try the ground thoroughly. The warden refused to grant a reward claim till the ground has been tried, but the application lodged protects the prospectors. There are still a number of dryblowers working on the Forty-mile rush. Very fine specimens have been obtained from the Black Flag mine at Black Flag. The stone shows coarw gold freely all through it. The claim has been taken by Henning and others. The reef is four feet wide or. the surface. Therhaft at Cosgrove's mine has been connected with the old working. The rich shoot of ironstone was found to be still going down, and is being opened up. The directors are considering the advisablenesa of erecting a machine. At a sale of Coolgardie town lots to-day, 22 quarter-acre allotments were submitted, and realised a total of £6278. A corner allotment in the newly-surveyed section of Bavley-street, in the western section of the town, brought the highest price yet paid for a town lot, namely, £1000. All the blocks brought high figures, the bidding being spirited for every lot. Six out of ten Bayley-street blocks were purchased by Bewick, Moreing, and Co. of London. A digger returned to-day from the new rush at Forty-mile, on the Ninety-mile Road. He states that no gold has yet been obtained on the ground save 280z5., specked by the prospectors. Water is extremely scarce and dear. Many diggers are returning. . ... .. Bayley's mine is still running with 15 head of stampers. Advantage is being taken of the continued good supply o» water. _^_________« — _■
