KIRIKIRIROA ROAD BOARD.
[by telegraph.—own correspondent.] Hamilton, Friday. At the meeting of the Kirikiriroa Road board, to-day, present, Messrs. E. Cox (chairman), Gordon, Mac Lean, Chitty, and Edgecumbc, it was resolved to let the matter of building a bridge or culvert at the East Hamilton school stand over, as no reply had been received to the Board's last letter. A letter was received from Mr. Worthington, enclosing an account for repairing Mullion's Bridge, and stating that it would stand for seven vears. The clerk reported that there was £350 to spend on ordinary local work between now and the end of next March, after allowing for all demands such as valuation of the district, hospital demands. Mr. Cox proposed that Mr. Fairburn be employed to do certain engineering work for the Board. Mr. Gordon said there were 30 bridges in the district, and the half of them were of 20 to 30 feet spans. Culverts were, from the quantity of water, out of the question. The bridge over the Morwick Creek, had been twice washed away. It required to be renewed at a different grade, There were two bridges on the river to do, and No. 5 bridge was condemned by the late chairman. No. 6 bridge was in no better condition. Bridges 7 and 8 required attention. There were five bridges on the Tawhare road in bad condition. The road from. Drinkwater's to the confiscated line was simply impassable. He moved, "That the Board provide the timber required and employ thoir ..lahour, the road from Drinkwater's to the confiscated boundary being let by contract." Mr. Cox proposed that Mr. fairburn report on these works when in the district. Mr. Edgecumbe thought all work should be done by contract. Mr. Gordon added to his motion that Mr. Worthingtou examine and report on the state of the bridges, and it was carried unanimously.
