AUCKLAND HARBOUR BOARD.

A meeting of the Finance and Legal Committee of the Harbour Board was held yesterday afternoon, there being present Messrs. E. W. Allison (chairman), A. E. Devore, and W. J. Napier. Admiralty Reserve. — The letter of Colonel Goring regarding the renting of the shed at the Ola Admiralty Reserve at Devonport, which had been referred to the committee to report upon, came up for discussion, as also the consideration of dealing with the whole question of the reserve. On the motion of Mr. W. J. Napier, the committee recommended:—!. ' That the naval authorities be asked to yield up possession of the shed and reserve to the Board on December 31,1894. 2. That the shed be , repaired by erecting new pillar studs where required, closing, of the internal connection between the upper and lower floors, erecting a new and easy grade of steps and handrail outside to connect with the upper floor, and the gates repaired and painted. 3. That on the Board acquiring possession of the shed :bhe lower floor be let to Colonel Goring for volunteering purposes at a rental of £25 per annum. 4. That the upper floor be retained and the use of the same allowed to the public on holidays as a shelter, the key to be left with the Town Clerk, Devonport. . 5. That if the Devonport Borough Council will agree to give the Board a piece of land in exchange, the reserve be handed over to' the Devonport Borough Council as a public recreation reserve, the necessary legislative power to do this to be obtained at the cost of the Devonport Borough Council. Harbour Limits.—Consideration of the letter of the VVaitemata County Council asking for information as to where the Board's authority ended regarding the harbour, and the report of the Chief Harbourmaster thereon, was deferred. • Overcrowding of Sailing Vessels.— The request of the Marine Department, asking that the Board draw the proper officer's attention to the new regulations regarding the overcrowding of sailing vessels with passengers, was recommended to be complied with. Fish Market.— new draft lease and conditions of sale of the Fish Market were read, considered, and approved of. Allotments at North Shore. — The committee decided to visit certain allotments at the North Shore, the property'of the Board, and report as to the best mode of dealing with them.
