GENERAL TELEGRAPHIC NEWS.
[By TELEGRAPH.—PRESS association.] Napier, Friday, Mr. John Hislop, senior, an old settler, aged 82, died to-day. Wanganui, Friday. At the quarterly meeting of the Licensing Committee to-day the only business before the Bench was an application from thirteen hotelkeepers for the extension to eleven o'clock. The applications were dealt with as a whole, and after hearing evidence in support the committee refused the extension, agreeing to their former grants of an extra quarter of an hour. The committee intend to ask the House to pass a short Bill validating their action, as they consider the extension they have granted through necessity for the convenience of travellers by late trains is sufficient. Wellington, Friday. The Master ton Licensing Committee quarterly meeting extended the hours in Masterton only from ten to eleven o'clock. The City Licensing Committee to-day decided to allow publicans to extinguish street lamps at eleven o'clock.
