THE WRECK OF THE CHRISTINE. ■ Nothiug further has been heard regarding the missing crew of the schooner Christine, Which was found stranded on the beach near Taranaki on Monday last, and there appears but little hope of their, having escaped a Watery grave in the disaster which overtook the vessel. Itistheideaof Some people it. shipping circles that the crew took to the boats; and made an attempt to reach the shore, but that the boats were swamped in the heavy Bea that must have been running at the time. Regarding the statement that " the schooner had been leaking, and the holes plugged with blankets," Mr. George Nlccol, of the North Shore, who overhauled and repaired the Vessel just previous to her sailing on her last voyage, states that she was sheathed with totara, unci as is usually the case when work of that description is done black or brown felt wis used oVer the paste which is put on the hull before the sheathing is put on.
