[BIT telegraph.— association.] Christohcroh, Thursday. At the Supreme Courb to-day George Burt was acquitted on a charge of having inflicted grievous bodily barm on Ellen Wood. This concluded the criminal sittings. At a largely-attended meeting of women, convened by the Mothers' Union, a resolution was passed protesting againsb the Divorce Bill now before Parliament. Oamaru, Thursday. Aba meeting of the County Council today a resolution was passed that the Noxious Weeds Bill was too stringent. Dcnedin, Thursday. At the inquesb on the man William Wilson, found dead in a shooting gallery, a verdicb of "Death from natural causes" was returned. It was surmised that, in getting through an awkward trap-door into the gallery, deceased was seized with syncope. The draughts match for the championship and £25 a-side has concluded. Of twenty-four games to be played, Brodie has won seven, and Boreham four, and there were eleven draws. As Boreham could nob win, ib was decided nob to play further. ________^_
