WELLINGTON ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY.

[by TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Thursday. The Wellington Acclimatisation Society have decided to recommend that no alteration be made this season in the dates for opening and closing the trout fishing season, but that they should remain the same as during the past three years, viz., September 15 to April 15, and that the regulations shall remain unaltered. In addition to a large quantity of trout ova already sent out to different hatcheries a large distribution of fry will be made during the next few months, some 265,000 trout fry being available for distribution in Hubt, Wairarapa, and Forty-Mile Bush districts ; 200,000 among kindred societies, and about 115,000 to West Coast rivers. A large number of trout fry will be sent up to the Hautapu River, which lies inland from Hunterville, the Government having agreed to contribute towards the expense of stocking this fine river, and Mr. Lowe, district surveyor, having undertaken the liberation of the fish. The ova sent to Sydney arrived safely, and is reported to be hatching out well. News from different rivers give every promise of excellent sport in trout fishing during the coming season.
