Fisher; secretary and treasurer, Mr. Martin Butler : executive committee, M ; -ts, R. Reynolds, W. Tucker, A. Gane, E. Allen, and W. 11. Wright; auditors, Messrs. Komi and Hartley. It was announced that the Horse Show Committee had authorised tiehanding of its funds over to the club, and Mr. Forrest's motion that a library of agricultural works be established, was submitted. Some six or eight of Mr. James Taylor's sheep were worried by .logs on Thursday night. Wata ata, Saturday. Mr. Robert Bruce, who it was thought was recovering from the effects of a kick in the stomach from a horse, is considerably worse, so much so that Dr. Brewis has ordered his immediate removal to the hospital at Hamilton. Tk Akoha, Saturday. The sub-leader which appeared in Wednesday's Herai.d, upon tin: allowing of cattle to run on unfenced land in country places, will be endorsed by most of the settlers here. Cattle here have .an unlimited run in the roads and streets, and apparently no restrictions are placed upon them. They have become an intolerable nuisance to the settlers in any of by-streets of the township. No garden is safe, and people have constantly to be upon >;he watch to prevent their gates being pushed open, and their flowers and trees destroyed, during the nocturnal peregrinations of cows and calves. On dark nights, it is positively dangerous to walk along the footpaths of the side streets, as cattle are lying about, and are inmost too !azv to move as a person approacl s. In country places it is sometimes a grcv.s convenience to settlers to run their cattle n the roads during the day, and by-laws to r> . ulate this are in operation in some districts, tut to have cattle running night and day in . he streets of a town of the size of Te Aroha. is surely manifesting too generous a spirit, altogether. It is to he hoped that the Town Board will pass some laws to protect the ratepayers from what lus become a very serious annoyance. The members of the Town Board are showing a very commendable spirt; in improving the footpaths in the main streets of the town. New kauri kerbing is to be put down, and the paths are to be covered with gravel ami sand. This will be a much needed improvement, and one that will be appreciated by visitors and residents. A very nice lintgravel has been discovered in close proximity to the town, and this, is to be utilised for the present improvements.
