AUCKLAND COURSING CLUB.

Entries for the May meeting of the Auckland Coursing Club, to open at the Avondale Plumpton on May 12th and 16th, were received at the British Hotel last evening. There was a large attendance, and a great of interest was manifested. For the New Lynn Maiden Stakes 39 entries were received, and for the Eden All-Aged Stakes 15 entries. The former is for an unlimited number of allaged dogs at £2 each, also a cup presented by the committee, open to all dogs that have not won any advertised money. The balance of the sweep, £1 10s, is pavable on the 10th instant. The Eden All - Aged Stakes is for an unlimited uumber of allaged dogs at £2 10s each. The nominations closed _ last night, and the balance of the sweep is due on the ldth instant. Some surErise was evinced that the entries for the rat day were so meagre, but there was an opinion that several dogs were reserved fo' the Grand Northern Challenge Stakes, to be run on June 13th and 16th. DUNEDIN MEETING. Donedin, Friday. The coursing meeting was continued today, when the weather was disagreeable. Rain had fallen, and everything was damp and miserable. The coursing was good,- but there were some surprises. The finish tomorrow for the Challenge Stakes will be exciting, as it has reduced itself to a match, Australia v. New Zealand, with two dogs each. Harley's three representatives, and the favourites, Sweetmeat and Lancashire Lad were put out, and. at the present stage it looks a good thing for the best of the two Australians, Verne and Clements Tonic.
