She left for Tauranga in the evening, and returns early to-morrow morning. Yesterday afternoon the smart Hobartowned barque Natal Queen, Captain Henry Brown, arrived from Newcastle, with a cargo of coal. Oi the passage aeross the master report sailing from the coal port on April 27, and exporienced light variable winds and rain until making the Three Kings on the 2nd inst. at 10 p.m.; thence light northerly winds prevailed along the coast. On Thursday night the barque was hove-to off the Hen and Chickens, and laid on her course at daylight yesterday, anchoring in the stream at 3 p.m. This morning she will berth at the Railway "Wharf to discharge, and on completion proceeds to the Thames to load timber for Melbourne. The Shaw, Savill, and .Albion Company s steamer lonic, from London and way ports, is expected to reach this port to-morrow night, or eaily on Monday morning. The barque Freetrader left Newcastle for this port in company with the barque Natal Queen, on April 27, and should put in an appearance early next week. On Monday the Union S.S. Company's steamer Southern Cross arrives from Wellington, Napier, and the East Coast, to resume her running in the East Coast trade. She leaves on Tuesday evening. The barque Geneveive, M. Tucker, arrived at Sydney recently after the fastest sailing run probably on record between Noumea and Sydney. The Jessie Kelly some years ago performed the trip in 4 days 11 hours, and the Sea Nymph, under Captain Brady, made some wonderfully quick passages. In the old days of the Black Dog and the brig Spec, in Mr. Robert Towas' employ, such trips were novelties. The Paotole also had her day in the trade.
