OVER-CROWDING OF OMNIBUSES.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—Your corespondent "Jehu" on tha above subject and the diversion of licensed vehicles from their routes, should place himself in communication with the new traffic inspector, and be prepared to give evidence on the particulars stated. The inspector cannot be in a dozen places at once, neither can he go into Court without good and sufficient witnesses. .The general cause of failure to obtain convictions is the indisposition of those who have cause of complaint to aid in the prosecution. The same may be said of not keeping the time-table, or diverting from the routes endorsed on license. It would be impossible for the inspector to be overlooking in several different directions at one time, and if those who can give reliable evidence content themselves with writing to the papers. One fact must not, however, be overlooked, as it occurs to all of us. Those who are most indignant at the over-crowding of vehicles would be equally indignant if they were refused a seat or even standing room on a very wet evening. If the traffic inspection and regulation is to be a success, ib must have the co-operation and help of those who would promote the comfort of the public and the convenience of residents iu tha suburbs, if they are not prepared to aid, then they cannot wonder at others being equally indifferent. — am, etc., Viator.
