WELLINGTON ITEMS.
[BY telegraph.—press ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Friday. The cosb of tho Wellington licensing election was £160, or less than expected. The Stipendiary Magistrate has decided that under the new Act he has jurisdiction in partnership disputes. Hitherto ib has always been understood that this was nob the case. The City Council has determined to insure firemen from accident on condition that the men release the Council from claims under the Employers' Liability Act. Daring the year the losses by fire in Wellington were under £7000. VVairarapa lawyers have petitioned the Minister for Justice to revise and consolidate the District Courts Acts, and extend jurisdiction to Wairarapa.
