On January 9 Mr. Gladstone, in reply to Mr. A. C. Morton as to making the Crown lands more available for division into small holdings and allotments for the benefit of the working classes, said the Government would be willing to favour such a thing in case of vacancies, but not fro the disturbance of present occupier*.
