Mr. W. E. C. Moss, sod of Mr. F. J. Moss, British Resident) at Rarotonga, intends leaving Auckland to-day, by the :.s. Mararoa, for Sydney, en route to Western Australia. The Rev. W. J. L. Gloss, 8.A., president of the Christian Endeavour Union, and the Rev. F. Warner, Congregational minister of Manly, are on a holiday visit to New Zealand. Among the passengers who left for the South by the Takapuna yesterday were the Rev. F. B. Thomas and family. Mr. Thomas has been appointed to the charge of the Wesleyan Church atMasterton. The marriage of Dr. George Allan, R.N., of H.M.s. Lizard, to Miss Maclnnes, daughter of the late Mr. John Maclnnes, of Sydney, took place in St. Stephen's Church, Phillip-street, on Wednesday, April 11, at six p.m. Now that the Rev. Thomas Spurgeon has been formally installed in the pastorate of the London Metropolitan Tabernacle, Mrs. Spurgeon, who has been residing iu Auckland, proceeds home by one of the direct steamers, to rejoin her husband. Cardinal Moran drove to the Terape Refuge ceremony recently in an open carriage. The word was quickly passed round that the new vehicle, which is said to have cost £250, was the gift of a number of Roman Catholic laymen who had privately subscribed the sum required. Archdeacon Green is to be consecrated Bishop of Armidale and Grafton at St. Paul's Cathedral, Melbourne, on May 1, the festival of St. Philip and St. James, by the Bishop of Ballarat. This will be the first consecration of an Anglican Bishop in Victoria. The Bishop of Ballarat was consecrated in Westminster Abbey on May 1, 1875, as were also Bishop Moorhouse and Bishop Goe respectively in the years 1876 and 1887. Mr. David Walker, of the Sydney Y.M.C.A., has received a letter from the secretary of the Glasgow Y.M.C.A., officially intimating that the Rev. John M'Neill, the evangelist, sailed for Capetown on February 8, accompanied by Mr. J. H. Burke, "one of America's sweeteso hymn singers." They purpose sailing from the Cape for New Zealand this month, and, after spending May and June in New Zea* land, arriving in Melbourne early in August I for a stay of two months in these colonies.
