CONCLUSION OF HOSTILITIES. Press Association.—Electric Teleftr&ph. —Copyright. Rio de Janeiro, March 14. The whole population of the city withdrew to the suburbs yesterday •and a heavy bombardment began upon the insurgent .fleet, to which one rebel fort replied, , The remainder were silent.
The Government fleet entered the harbour and all the rebels lowered their flags.
The surrender was unconditional.
French and Portuguese warships refused to give shelter to the insurgent officers.
Admiral da Gama is reported to be aboard the British man-of-war Sirius.
Admiral Mello is on board the Aquidab&u, which is out at sea. Rio de Janeiro, March 15.
Admiral Da Gama has left the harbour on board a French warship, having been ejected from the Portuguese vessel.
