The Assembly of New South Wales has before it a First Probationers Act, similar to the measure that has been in operation in New Zealand for several years. A meeting of the creditors of Richard Porter was held yesterday at the office of the Official Assignee. The debtor's sworn statement, and the inventory of plant, etc., taken by Porter, and * valued by him at £233 9s lOd was laid before the meeting. The Official Assignee also intimated thab he had instructed Messrs. Cochrane and Son to sell the tilings by auction. There was no response to the Assignee's question as to whether there was any complaint to make with regard to the bankrupt's conduct or mode of trading. The Official Assignee said he thought 3a 6d to 4s in the £ would be paid. The City Council invite tenders for a steel flagstaff, Albert Park. _ t .
