THE BALLANCE MEMORIAL.

[BY TELEGRAPH.PRESS association..] Wellington, Friday. The Ballance Memorial Committee, on the report of Messrs. Clereand Turnbull, have accepted the design of Mr. R. R. McGregor, architect, Wellington, for a memorial design. It shows a monument of 27 feet high, rising from three blue stone plinths to enriched pedestal with four marble columns and tablets. It is described as elegant and imposing in appearance. The committee resolved that if Mr. McGregor could not carry out and complete it according to the prescribed conditions the design of Mr. J. B. Jacobsen, of Palraorston North, should be accepted, and failing, that of Mr. Stocks, of Christchurch. If none of these can be erected for the amount in hand, fresh dosigns will be called for.
