NEWMARKET BOROUGH COUNCIL.
ffHE regular fortnightly meeting of the Newmarket Borough Council was held last evening. In the absence of the Mayor, Mr. Clayton, Mr. Lumpkin was called on to preside, there were also present, Messrs. Edgerly, Angus, Whyman, Heron, JLaxon, Page, and Stone. Licensing Elections.—A circular was received from the Department of Justice transmitting a copy of a warrant under the hand of the Government, appointing local bodies to have authority within licensing districts. The Parnell Borough Council was appointed the local authority in respect of the Parnell electorate. The communication wits received. Foreman of Works.—This officer reported on certain works completed, and in progress, clearing street drains, etc. The report was rccsivcdt Bank Balances.—The statement of funds was submitted as follows; General account, (dr.), £163 Is 6d ; waterworks account, (cr.), £190 3s sd; interest account (cr.), £93 10s JOd; sinking fund account (cr.), £6. The report was received.
