CROWN LANDS BOARD.
The ordinary meeting of the Auckland Crown Lands Board was held yesterday. There were present: —Messrs. G. Mueller (chairman), R. Thompson, M.H.R., Bagnail, Lundon, and Major Harris, M.H.R.
Lands Alienated.— following summary of lands disposed of in the Auckland district from December 16, 1893, to January 6, 1894, was presented :— Occupation with right to purchase, 18 selectors, 2481 acres; lease in perpetuity, 5 selectors, 485 acres; pastoral runs, 1 selector, '20.100 acres, small grazing runs, 1 selector, 5100 acres; cash, 6 selectors, 122 acres; Rotorua leases (99 years), 63 selectors, 340 acres (annual rent, £627 10s): total area alienated, 28,628 acres. ' Howick. —Further correspondence relative to the military reserve in Bo wick was referred to. On reference to the map, the land was found to be in the Paparoa Road Board District, and so the Howick Township Road Board had nothing to do with it. Under Water.— War brick applied for six months leave to live off his section in the Parish of Rangitaiki, as his house and land were under water. Last July three months' leave was granted to him. His arrears amounted to £55 2s 6d. It was decided that the applicant's attention be directed to the Land Drainage Act, 1893, and that be be requested to pay arrears of rent without further delay. Thirds.—Schemes for the expenditure of thirds were received from the following :— Upper Mahurangi Road Board, Waitoa Road Board, Bay of Islands County Council. The schemes were approved of. Quarry Reserve.—The Board was requested to set apart lot 6a, section 17, suburbs of Auckland, as a quarry reserve. It contains 28 acres 1 rood. It is proposed to lease the land when reserved. The request was complied with. Cambridge.The Board was asked by the Cambridge Borough Council to sell certain sections in Cambridge East. They are Crown lands, with the exception of 580 acres, which is a road reserve, and vested in the Borough Council. It was decided that the lands be submitted to auction at £20 per acre, and if not sold offered for lease for 10 years at five per cent, on upset prices. Tokatoka.— Otamatea County Council recommended the petition of the Tokatoka settlers for a road to their sections. They desired an advance out of the Land Fund. The application was approved. St. Paul's Church.—The contractors for St. Paul's Church requested to be allowed to quarry stone from Rangitoto. Tho quarry reserve on Rangitoto is not under the Domain Board, but has been cut out on the map. The request was complied with. Miscellaneous. — The Board resolved that the sum of £50 paid by the new lessee for improvements effected by C. R. Walker on deferred payment Sectiou 11, Block IX., Omapere, be paid to the Receiver of Revenue, as at the time of forfeiture Walker was in arrears £98 13s 7d. It was decided not to comply with the request of W. Coleman for a lease of the landing reserve on Mercury Island. The usual batch of rangers' reports and applications for land were dealt with.
