AUCKLAND CRICKETERS IN THE SOUTH.
AT WELLINGTON.-* rlv
[BY TELEGRAPH.—SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT.]
./• '•.',!■"■ >,-'.«'.' Wellington, Tuesday. | After a very hearty send off at Christchureh from' cricketers - and friends, we' took the Penguin to Wellington, and on arrival, there met with hosts of athletic chums and other friends. All'were driven out to MoNab's, at the Hutt, and a very pleasant afternoon was yesterday, while to-day all have been practising on the basin, and although a much taster ground than we have been used to, all seemed at home, and some fine practice was done. With the exception of Fowke, whose hand is still very bad, all are in fine spirits and health, although;on all sides we hear that Wellington will' beat us easily. Our boys are in fine fettle, and will render a good account of themselves'when the last game comes on. ; Splendid weather and great hospitality favour us here; so great that I am' afraid we shall all want-to be men of wealth when we get back. Everywhere we go we meet Aucklanders, ' who treat us most ; kindly. ________ .•■"'','"■'.'■
