Wellington, Tuesday. In, the Magistrate's Court to-day, J. D. Morrison, tailor, was charged under the Factories Act with permitting his female employes to work after one o'clock on Saturday afternoon. The girls in question gave evidence that they were working on piece work, For the defence lb was contended that the Saturday halfholiday only applied to those on daily and weekly wages, and nob to piece workers. Counsol for the Inspector of Factories admitted that; this objection took him by surprise, and the case was adjourned until the 16bh for further argument.
