THE NEWZEALAND SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIP.
On Saturday last, the competitors chosen by the New South Wales Swimming Association, to represent chat colony in the champion* ship events of the Auckland Swimming Club's Meeting, to be held in the Calliope Bock, on Saturday next, and Wednesday, the 17th instant, left Sydney by the Union Company's steamer Mararoa, and should, therefore, arrive in Auckland on Wednesday next. The team consists of W. J. Gormley (Champion of Australia), J. H. Sellings, J. Tooher, C. Hellings, J. Mason, E. Tooher (Wentworth Swimming Club), T. Meadham, J. J. Maloney, W. Gumbleton "(Enterprise Swimming Club), A. Holmes (Balmain Swimming Club), G. K Farmer (Eastern Suburbs Swimming Club) and others. Among the enthusiasts accompanying the team is Mr. A. B. Fyke, president of the New South Wales Swimming Association. The competitors from Christchurch, whose names have already been published, left Lyttelton on the same day, and will also arrive on Wednesday. The team (including the president and treasurer of the Christchurch Swimming Club) comprises nine members, and the championship which will most engage their attention, is the water polo, which they have new held for two successive years. The Whangarei and' Gisborne representatives are not expected until next Friday.
