''] the Inquest. .;",' '[ ,\ "» ' fa* TELEGRAPH,— PRESB ' ASSOCIATION. J DtJNEpw, Thursday, '' Tub inquest touching the death, of William Mudge was resumed to-day, when six witness were examined, most of whom merely corroborated the evidence previously 'hived. . Magnus Johnson, residing near the scene of the tragedy, stated that he heard a man with a foreign accent saying repeatedly that he " would knife him," referring to some ' one who had taken him unawares. Mrs. ! Greaves in her evidence said two men had come to her door, and tried to force their 1 way. As she was remonstrating, Dob'son, who had been at her house earlier in the evening, came from behind the scullery and a scuffle followed. She did not know thab she could recognise the men again. Ashton was nob one of them. She could not recollect speaking to, Ashton before the fatal quarrel took place. Her mother came on being sent for, as Dobson, on being asked to go for a policeman, said ha did not know where to look for one. Witness went to hot mother's house, and sent her brother for one. She did this because she could see the men standing at the corner, and was afraid there would be a disturbance. Returning to her own house she found her mother standing in the road, and directly afterwards heard the man say he waa stabbed. She thought the man was Ashton. She did not see anything, and on hearing this he.' mother took her inside. She went out again, but her mother again took her in, and she found Dobson sitting in the kitchen. She told he would have to go away, or the police would take him in charge. .He replied, " I don't care," and went into the back bedroom. She did not say this because he was connected with the stabbing, for she had not seen the stabbing, but because he was in the first sen ilia. Kufner came into the house later, bub she sent him away. The inquosb was adjourned till to-morrow.
