Several natives of India, who for some twelve months past have been travelling about Australia in connection with the Salvation Army, have arrived in Dunedin. They will take part in a series of meetings to be held in the Salvation Army Barracks there, and will no doubt arrive in Auckland in due season. Their meetings in different Australasian centres were characterised by much enthusiasm. In connection with the Eastern service, a supplement to the contract with the comDany, dated July 3, 1885, has been laid before the German Federal Council, having for its object a re-arrangement of the services with China, Japan, and Australia. The following lines will be established as a result of the recent negotiations:—(l) A line between Bremerhaven and China; (2) a branch line between Hong Kong and Japan; and (3) a branch line between Singapore and German New Guinea. The new service to Australia, will be a line between Bremerhaven, Adelaide. Melbourne, and Sydney. The subsidy will amount to 4,090,000 marks (£204.500) per ' annum.
