The Northern Steamship Company notifies elsewhere its steamboat excursions on New \ ear's Day to Mahurangi Heads by tho Wellington and Waiwera by the Clansman. On the 2nd January to Mahurangi Heads by the VVaiotahi. and to the Great Barrier at midnight by the Argyle, returning on Thursday morning. The Wellington will also leave on the 3rd and <sth January for Wbangarei, giving tourists the opporseeing the Whangarei races. An excursion from Onehunga to Kaglaii and Kawhia will be made by the 8.8. Glcnelg, leaving on Friday afternoon and returning to tho'Manukau early ou Wednesday morning.
The Christmas anthem at St. Mary's Cathedral was "Sing, 0 Heavens!" (B. Tours), and was very effectively rendered. Miss L'.-o sang the solo parts with much taste, and- the congregation joined heartily in the "Adeste Fideles,'' with which the anthem concludes. Mr. R. Leslie Hunt presided at the organ, and ho and the choir are to be congratulated on the marked improvement noticeable in the musical portion of the Cathedral services .
