ONEHUNGA HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

The Spring Show of the Onehunga Horticultural Society, was opened on Saturdayafternoon ab the Onehunga Public Hall, lb was mostly confined to local exhibitors, bub the show was a very good one in most respects, although the competition was by no means what it should have been ab this season of the year, lb was well attended, especially in the evening, and the officers of the society are to be congratulated on the excellent manner in which the hall was decorated and the tables arranged. Mr. 0. C. Fleming, the president, was in attendance during the day, and rendered valuable assistance. The other officers of the club, and the secretary, Mr. R. A. Jackson, were assiduous in the discharge of their duties. There were a number of extra exhibits nob entered for competition, conspicuous amongst which was the grand case of fancy biscuits exhibited by Messrs. Bycroffc and Co. at the recent Auckland Agricultural Show, which filled up a large gap in the hall. Messrs. Yates and Co. had a fine display of seeds attractively placed. There were also some very fine pot plants, especially ferns, and many of the flowers and bouquets were of a high order of merit, bub on the whole the show was nob equal in excellence to that of last year. The rain, of course, is accountable in a great measure for the fall-ing'-off in some classes. There were good exhibits in the vegetable classes, but fruit was only fairly good. The judges for pot plants, cut flowers, and bouquets, were Messrs. C. T. Wren, aud C. S. McDonald ; for fruit and vegetables, Messrs. C.
