AUCKLAND AGRICULTURAL ASSOCIATION.
A meeting of the executive committee was held yesterday, Mr. M. Kirkbride in the chair. There was a full attendance of the members. The Secretary stated that expressions of sympathy, and subscriptions to enable the committee to meet the heavy loss at the late show, had been sent in by Mr. W. H. Wright. Mr. W. Thome, Mr. Hedley (Waiheke), and that several prize-winners had offered to forego their prizes, including Messrs. L. D. Nathan, John McCaw, F. L. Wright, Holgate, Binstcad, Turnbull, Clifford, etc. It was resolved that these gentlemen be thanked for their proffered assistance. Mr. Thompson announced that in the Weight Guessing Compaction Mr. James Hall had taken the three first prizes for the nearest estimates of the live, dead, and total of both live and dead weights of the two bul. locks. Mr. Isaac Gray the second for the live weight, Mr. John Massey second for the dead, and Mr. Rd. Hunter second for total of live and dead weights, The Secretary stated that the accounts having not all come in, he was unable to lay before the committee exact details of the financial position, but that the committee was receiving so much help from the prizewinners that it was hoped that funds would be available to meet all claims. It was finally resolved that if it could be arranged a further meeting should be held at Potter's Paddock, when the various events that had not been gone through at the late show should take place. It was thought that the committee would in this way meet with sufficient support to enable them to meet all liabilities. Messrs. Caverhill, Hall, Kirkbride, Dunwoodie, and Anderson were appoiuted a committee to complete the arrangements. Messrs. J. Phillipps, Robt. Hall, and Caverhill were appointed to meet the Harbour Board about a landing-place for cattle in Auckland harbour. Some protests were received. One from Mr. Haywood was referred to the judge. Another, from Mr. Turnbull, in reference to the heavy-weight hunter, was sustained. Mr. Kirkbride called attention at considerable length to the great assistance the executive had received from Mr. W. Dunwoodie in the carrying out of the arrangements for the show, and moved that the thanks of the executive be forwarded to that gentleman. Messrs. Hall, Carruth, and others spoke in support of the motion, and it was carried unanimously. Messrs. R. Fisher and Walter H. Wrighb were elected members of the Association.
