The Beresford-streeb Sunday-school exhibition and sale of work was largely attended last night. The committee were very assiduous in their endeavours to amuse, and at the same time disposed of numerous useful and ornamental articles on sale. The phonograph proved very attractive to a great many, whilst the telegraph, the arb gallery, and the shooting gallery, situated in various places in the hall, were a source of interest and at the same time were of pecuniary advantage to the school. At intervals during the evening musical items were given. Misses Orace Wrigley and Bridgwater contributed a piano duet, and Mr. Dix in his comic song was successful, having to respond to an encore. A well-executed instrumental trio was performed by the Misses Harding, and Miss Davis rendered "Just a Song at Twilight" in a pleasing manner. An ironing competition took place, young ladies only competing. It evoked considerable enthusiasm, and was eventually won by Miss Hales. Gas irons lent by the Auckland Gas Company were used. Amongst the interesting machines on view was a one-horsepower Rochester kerosene engine, exhibited by Messrs. L. Porter and Co., which attracted a considerable amount of attention. The sale of work has proved a decided success from every point of view. The members of the Auckland Fishing Club will meet at Revonport ferry tee, as notified elsewhere. The Tongariro will leave the ferry tee this afternoon with the Newmarket Fishing Club.
