The Union S.S. Company's steamer Talune, Captain C. W. Todd, arrived from Melbourne, Hobart, and Southern porta yesterday morning. The purser reports that the steamer left Melbourne at midnight on the Ist instant, and arrived at Hobart at 5 p.m. on the 13th ; left again at midnight, and arrived off Solanders Island at 8 p.m. on the .6th, and arrived at the Bluff at l a.m. on the ■7th; left again at 6 p.m., arriving at Dunedm on the 18th at 11 a.m., and left again at noon on the 19th; arrived at Lyttelton at 7 a.m. on the 20th, and left again the same day • at 6.5 p.m., reaching Wellington at 830 a m on the 21st; left again at 7 p.m., and called at Napier and Gisborne, leaving the latter port at 10 a.m. on the 23rd, and arriving as
above. Experienced fine weather with variable winds throughout the trip. The Talune leaves for Sydney at noon to-day. The 3.8. Wellington arrived from Whanirarei early yesterday morning, and left agaiD lor the same place last night. The Northern S.S. Company s Clansman arrived from Mangonui, Whangaroa, and Russell yesterday morning with a cargo of wool, gum, and general sundries. She left for Tauranga last night, and returns to-morrow morning. The brigantine Lady Mabel has been fixed through Younghusband and Co. to load at Newcastle for Napier. Messrs. \ounghusband and Co. have fixed the brigantine Eliza Firth to load timber at the Thames for Wartnambool. The cargo steamer Duke of Westminster left London on October 16 for PortCnalmers, Lyttelton, and Wellington, under charter to the Now Zealand Shipping Company (Limited). She may be expected to arrive in the colony about the 3rd prox. To-morrow the Union S.S. Company's steamer Taviuni is due from Fiji. She leaves for Wellington on Mouday. The Union S.S. Company's steamer Takapuna from the South and New Plymouth is timed to arrive at Onehunga at ten o'clock to-night. This morning the Union S.S. Company's steamer Poherau will come down from the Sugar Works, and go into the Auckland Graving Dock, for the purpose of having a new phosphor • bronze propeller fitted. It has not yet been decided what port the steamer will proceed to from here. The barquentine Frank Guy arrived at Onehunga yesterday morning from Greymouth, with 227 tons of coal, and 30 tons of coke. Shortly after two o'clock yesterday Afternoon the Union S.S. Company's steamer Waihora sailed for Southern porta, Hobart, and Melbourne, with a general cargo. H.M.s. Orlando left Melbourne for Sydney I on the 17th instant. The French warship Duguay Trouin arrived at Melbourne from Sydney on the 17th instant, and after a short stay there she proceeds on to Hobart and New Zealand. To-day the American barque Essex will complete her loading of kauri gum and flax for New fork, and is to sail early next week. The steamer Richmond leaves for Rarotonga and Tahiti this evening. H.M.s. Boomerang was to leave Newcastle for Sydney on the 17th inst. H.M.s. Tauranga was due at Sydney from Noumea last week. Yesterday the Union S.S. Co.'s steamer Australia left Gisborne for this port. She is timed to arrive to-morrow, and leaves for the East Coast, Napier, and Wellington on Tuesday. The New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Waikato left Wellington for Melbourne yesterday. Yesterday the Shaw, Savill, and Albion Company's steamer Rangatira arrived at Lyttelton from Port Chalmers.
