MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS.
St. Hippo.—There has been a great improvement in the hangingwall branch, and this week I obtained 121b of goods picked stone, as per wire on 11th. There are three stopes going on this reef, aud another will be started from the winze during next week. We have now a block 80 feet in length opened up. The reef has been a little smaller this week, being now 15 inches thick, and the quartz is of a rubbly nature, showing nice dabs of gold. After next week I will start to open the block north of the winze, which I believe will be a payable one. Victoria.—During the past week work has been carried on at the 100-feet level stoning on the main reef, also stoping on the hangingwall leader, and driving on main reef west of crosscut. In the stopes on the main reef a little gold is occasionally seen, and the quartz is much more mineralised than it hitherto has been. On the hangingwall loader there is little change; occasionally a few pounds of picked stone are being saved, but the leader still continues small. The drive on main reef going west: The ground has been rather tight during the past week, in consequence slower progress is being made; although tight still it is a good class of gold-bearing country. I intend next week to crush some 20 loads of quartz, principally from the stopes on the main reef.
