[by telegraph.— correspondent.]
Thames, Friday, Sharemarket.— Alburnia, sellers ss; Hazelbank, sales 2s 6d, sellers 2s 8d ; May Queen, sellers 3s 9d; Moanataiari, sales 3s 4d; St. Hippo (la Id paid-up), sellers 9d. ' Orlando.A start was' to-day made to send down to the battery for treatment the quartz broken from the reef in low level of late, in order that its value may be ascertained. % Saxon.Clarkin and party, who are working a tribute block upon a hangingwall branch of No. 3 reef •at No. 1 level, completed a crushing of seven load 3 of quartz, and 801b of picked stone to-day for the handsome return of 116oz lOdwt gold. Moanataiari. The drive which is being driven from the Hazelbank Mo. 1 level is now within about) 15 feet of the- level, but the manager is doubtful whether the drive is low enough to rnalco a good connection with'the crosscut, so as to drain away the water now lying in the same. This, however, will not interfere with the intended plan of operations that ho purposes carrying ' out in this section of the mine, and so far as ventilation is concerned this will be provided for by sinking a winze from the old 80-feeb level, and if any new discovery is made which will necessitate the ground being unwatered then that difficulty can easily be overcome by driving a short crosscut from the Hazelbank No. 3 level, which is 146 feet deeper than the company's 150 feet level. The other workings in the mine are without any particular change to mention.
