The weekly returns of the Bank of England, published to-day, show the total reserve to be £17,684,000, and the proportion of reserve to liabilities is 52'56. Consols are 98£. Three months' bills are discounted at 24. per cent., with the market flat. New Zealand 4 per cent, inscribed stock is 1054; 34 per cent, ditto 95. New Zealand long-berried wheat, ex warehouse, is firmer at 28s; South Australian wheat, ex warehouse, is firmer at 293 9d ; Victorian ditto, 29s 6d. Frozen mutton : First quality, 3§d; second quality, 3sd; lamb, first quality, 3ad. At the auctions 74 bales New Zealand hemp were sold. Good to fair quality from Wellington soli at £19 5s fid per ton. At the Bradford wool sales there is increasing business in view of the London sales. Sugar : German beet, 15s 14d ; Java, firm, 17s 7d. Chili copper is £43 per ton for cash. Tin: Three months' quotations are £80 10s. No. 1 best Scotch pig iron, f.o.b. in the Clyde for cash, 42s 6d.
