* AUCKLAND. Messrs. Hunter and Nolan's Report.— Horsefeed, grain, seeds : Ample for local requirements has been brought forward, but there remains an unsatisfied demand for maize for shipment, and prices for transhipment advanced 6d per bushel. We quote: Peed oats, 2s 3d to 2s 9d per bushel; seed * oats, 2s 9d to 3s; oaten chaff, £3 to £3 10a per ton; bran, £3 to £3 5s ; Poverty Bay rye grass, 4s 6d per bushel; Cockfoot, 7s. Horses were brought forward in larger numbers than on the previous week and were wanted. Although one or two exceptionally good «.' draughts sold at a high figure there was a depression in value generally ; other stamps unaltered. Few outside horses attracted a good attendance at the Durham yards. A powerful strong and staunch shafter realized £50; others ranged from £29 10s to £41; hacks from £4 10s to £11 10s; light harness, £7 to £1S; medium draught, £16 'to £24. Wool, hides, skins, bones, tallow : Moderate quantities were pitched at the Durham yards on Tuesday, and were competed for. No extra stout hides offered but are worth 5d to 5Ad per lb; stout ox, 3d to 4sd; medium, 2id to ; cow and steer, 2d "to 2£d ; stag, Id to ; calf skins, 3d to 4d per lb; sheepskins local, 2s 6d to 5s 4d each; country, 2s to 4a 9d; tallow, 19s perewt.; rough fat, lglb; bones, £4 to £4 2s fid per ton. Cattle : There has been "a continuous demand for all descrip- ' tions, almost without any perceptible alteration in value, with the exception of some well-thriven young stores, prices for which were in favour of the vender. The muster at Newmarket was not large on Tuesday, but the Pukekohe Yards were well filled on Tuesday. We quote: Calves, 27s fid to £1 15s; yearlings, £1 10s to £2; 8-months'-old steers, £2 7s 6d to £3; grown steers, £4 7s fid to £5 10s ; dry cows, £2 10s to £3 7s 6d; beef, 20s to 22s per 1001b ; some averages of fat steers were £10 18s Bd, £10 10s lOd, £9 2s 6d, £8 18s 9d, £8 3s lid, £8 2s 3d, £7 7s 2d ; cows, £5 12s 6d, £5 8s 2d, £5 7s fid, £4 10s, £4 7s 6d. Sheep : The Newmarket pens were moderately failed on Tuesday, and a steady demand prevailed : Wethers sold at from 12s fid to 20s 3d; ewes, 12s to 17s Gel; spring lambs, 7s fid to 13s; store ewes, 5s 9d to 10s ' each. Pigs : A good many were yarded, and met with brisk demand : Bacouers reached £3 10s each ; porkers, lis to £2 os each. " Messrs. A. Buckland and Sons' Weekly Report. — At the Haymarket during the past week meadow hay has brought from 2s 3d to 3s 3d: oaten sheaves, 3s fid to 4s per cwt: maize, 2s 8d and 2s 7d; oats, 2s 7d to 2s 9d; ryegrass, 2s 9d and 3s per bushel; chaff, £3 7s fid to £4 os ; bran, £2 15s ; pressed hay, £4 ss; bonedust, £6 5s ; bone manure, £5; potatoes, £5 to £7 per ton. On Friday, horse stock sold freely at late values; medium to strong draught brought from £18 to £27 10s ; a hansom cab, £24; the draught stallion Dugal, £26 ; a spring cart, £9. On Tuesday, hides rallied somewhat in price; ox hides ranged from 2£d to 4£d; cow hides, ljd to-2Jd; calfskins. 3d to 4Jd per lb; tallow brought from 17s to 20s 6d; bones, 3s 9d per cwt; sheepskins are at lower values consequent on the lower rates ruling in the European markets. Prices for fresh skins were from 3s 2d to 5s 3d ; dry skins, 2s to 4s; lambskins. Is to Is 3d each ; crossbred wool. • 6&d; merino, 4fd; dead wool, 4il per lb, At Remuera on Thursday dairy cows, in usual supply, were at late values; prices for good cows near calving were from £5 to £8 each. Store cattle, more numerous than usual, were required, and sold freely. Fat cattle in average number; 190 yarded were slightly better worth; prices ranged from 21s to 23s the lOOlbs, and were steady throughout the sale. Young and fat calves in greater number than tor some markets, and kept their values. Days' old calves were from 4s to 9s; weeks' old, 12s to 18s; three months, up to 42s each. Sheep in short supply; 600 yarded, and man t of those of inferior quality. Fat sheep were better worth 2s each, but those of inferior quality were at late values. This season's lambs, about 40 yarded, brought from 7s to 14s each. Pigs in usual supply, and generally well bred were ' in better demand than last week. Vr Messrs. G. W. Binney and Sons' Report V v that they offered and cleared a large catalogue of hides, skins, and tallow at satisfactory prices. They quote Extra prime stout ox, 5d to s£d; extra stout, 4id; stout. ; 3|d to 4|d; steers and medium, 2£~d :to 3gd; heavy cow, 2Jd to 2fd; medium and kip.lgd to 2£d; calf skins, 3d to 4gd ; yearlings, 2M to 3d per lb. Skins: Longwoo'ls, 4s 4d tosa . 2d; crossbreds, 3s 3d to 4s fid; country dried, 2s to 4s 4d: pelts and lambs, la Id to Is 9d each, Wool: Small lots, 3d to 6M per lb. Tallow and bones: No change.
